How many hours per week does FastTrack to Work require?

The program runs over a period of 12 weeks; the internship + coaching + classes + other activities usually total 26 hours a week.

For instance, your schedule could look like this:

  • Monday-Friday from 10am to 2pm: paid internship
  • Tuesdays 2pm to 3pm: job development (help with your resume, job applications, interview practice, etc)
  • Wednesdays 2pm to 3pm: Work Readiness class
  • Thursdays 2pm to 3pm: job development (1:1)
  • Fridays 2pm to 5pm: visits to Baltimore businesses to explore different types of jobs and industries

What type of support does the program include?

FastTrack to Work includes:

  • A paid internship where you work at a local business in Baltimore while earning an industry-standard salary.
  • Job coaching: on-site support at your workplace. Your job coach helps you learn tasks, develop workplace skills, navigate social situations, and implement accommodations.
  • Job development: help with creating your resume, finding suitable positions, applying for jobs, practicing interview skills, and otherwise connecting you with job opportunities.
  • Work readiness training: weekly classes led by peers who have successfully found and maintained employment.
  • Help with transportation: we help you get to and from work, from providing wheelchair-accessible transportation to support with navigating local transit systems, accessing transportation assistance programs, arranging ride services, or exploring alternative transportation solutions.
  • Benefits counseling: our team helps you navigate the paperwork and understand how employment affects benefits

What if I find a job before the end of the 12 weeks?

If you find the job of your dreams before the end of the program, you don’t need to finish your internship; instead, you can move on to your new job and we’ll help both you and your new employer make the transition as smooth as possible.

Who is a good fit for FastTrack to Work?

This program is for adults (21 years or older) with autism or intellectual disabilities that allow them to work and maintain a regular schedule.

The program is tailored to meet various needs; all course materials and locations are accessible for individuals with diverse learning needs, sensory sensitivities, and/or mobility challenges.
